About the Teacher

Arpita Ganguly began her Odissi dance training at an early age in Odisha, where she was also introduced to the vibrant folk dance traditions of her home state. She is certified under Pracheen Kala Kendra. Her teachers at Sai Kala Mandir including Guru Dilip Mohapatra instilled the love for Odissi in her, but her first inspiration was her elder sister.

After moving to the United States, Arpita continued performing and, in 2017, began teaching children in the Twin Cities. What started as small community sessions gradually became the foundation of Nava Kriti. During her visits to India, she continues to train intensively with her teacher, Guru Smt. Sujata Mohapatra, returning each time with deeper knowledge and renewed devotion to the art.

Arpita and the students of Nava Kriti have performed at events and festivals across the United States, sharing the grace and depth of Odissi with diverse audiences.

Her vision is to pass on this sacred art form with the same authenticity and devotion in which she has received it from her Gurus, nurturing the next generation of dancers with both discipline and joy.
